Hanwha Vision America / OnCAFE

Making enterprise access feel simple.

Access control spans people, places, devices, and permissions. We brought those relationships into a unified platform and a reusable design language.

A shared organization view gives administrators a starting point for the wider access ecosystem.
01 / The challenge

One ecosystem. Many different tasks.

  • Identity and permissions
  • Hardware configuration
  • Multi-site administration

Installers need to configure hardware. Administrators need to manage people and permissions. Operators need to understand what is happening across a site. Those tasks share data, but demand different levels of detail.

We organized the experience around those workflows, with consistent patterns for identity, device configuration, and access activity. The aim was to make the system coherent without flattening its complexity.

02 / Design decisions

Inside the experience.

The choices that connect the product to the people using it.

01 / People

Keep identity and activity together.

Managing access means understanding a person’s credentials and the activity associated with them.

We gave identities a consistent profile view, bringing the person’s details, credentials, and recent events into one place.

Identity profiles connect administration with the activity behind it.
  1. Profile information provides a consistent anchor.
  2. Credentials and recent events support investigation.

What this makes possibleA more coherent view of the people moving through the system.

02 / Devices

Give configuration a physical reference.

Hardware setup is difficult to interpret when the interface only exposes abstract settings.

Controller configuration combines a device representation with structured configuration controls, grounding the setup in the hardware being installed.

A visual controller reference helps connect configuration to the physical device.
  1. Hardware context sits beside configuration.
  2. Related settings are grouped into a predictable structure.

What this makes possibleA clearer connection between the installer’s physical task and the software.

03 / Operations

Bring the site into view.

Access events, doors, and camera context need to be understood as parts of the same place.

Area views bring controls and activity into a spatial context. Scheduling and reporting use the same visual language across related tasks.

Area views connect the place, its devices, and the activity happening around them.
  1. Area context organizes the operational view.
  2. Activity and controls stay close to the place they describe.

What this makes possibleA shared operational picture for administration and day-to-day use.

A shared design language

Patterns in practice.

Interface details from the product show how related workflows share a common foundation.

Identity list detail with category filters, search, and person rows

Identity lists

Reusable filters, search, and person rows establish a consistent pattern for administration.

Controller configuration interface detail

Device configuration

Structured settings paired with a clear physical reference.

Door scheduling interface detail

Scheduling patterns

Reusable controls for defining when and where access applies.

03 / The result

A clearer product foundation.

The work establishes a connected product experience and a repeatable design foundation for a complex access ecosystem.
